Engineers Host Rival Union for Senior Night

MEET TIME (January 19, 2018): The Engineers are back at Robison Pool with a dual meet against the Dutchmen of Union College for Senior Night.

TWO MEET WEEKEND: Rensselaer is back in action on Saturday as RPI hosts the Krumpf Invitational at noon featuring Clarkson, Cortland, Ithaca, Skidmore and William Smith.

RPI TO DATE: The Engineers are a combined 10-1 with the women at a perfect 6-0... RPI traveled to the MIT ­Invitational for their last competition of 2018 where both teams took fourth place.

DUAL RANKINGS: In the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of ­America (CSCAA), the women were ranked 19th, the only Liberty League to break into the Top-25... both the women and men were the only Liberty League teams to make it into the CSCAA regional rankings in 6th and 8th, respectively, in the Northeast-North.

QUALIFYING: Senior Shanny Lin hit a NCAA-B qualifying time at MIT in the 200 butterfly with a 2:04.97... sophomore Jessica Kugelman hit a second-cut qualifier for the NCAA Regional Meet in a win over WPI.
 
SENIORS: Prior to tonight's meet, seniors Lin, Erin Kane, Rose Pisacano, Danielle Sauve, Jessica Sauve, Sarah Sundius, Michaela Yamashita, Reilly Keating-Wood and Spencer Marquardt will recognized for their commitment to the RPI swim and dive program.
 
RELAYS: The men's 200 freestyle relay team of freshmen Timothy Ho, Everett McNair & Graham Zola and junior John Alberta are just over three seconds away from hitting a NCAA-B cut time... the women's 200 medley relay team of freshman Amanda Wang and Yamashita, Danielle Sauve and Jessica Sauve are a mere .66 seconds away from garnering a NCAA-B cut time.

RPI VS. UNION LAST YEAR: Last year, the Engineers swept the Dutchmen on the road with the men taking the meet 128-115 with the women winning 139-101… on the men's side, the meet came down to the final event, the 200 freestyle relay, where the team of Marquardt, Alberta, Justin Chang and Andrew Klobucher took the event with a time of 1:29.02, a little less than one second before Union… other winners from the men's side included Noah Pan, Trevor Maxfield and Richard Dong… the women's side was led with wins from the Sauve sisters, Kugelman, Lin and Siena Sara.

UNION TO DATE: The Dutchmen are off to a 1-4 start with a 153-76 win at Skidmore with the women reflecting the same record with a 121-110 win against the Thoroughbreds…
