TROY, N.Y. - Senior Jena Dolinar had a goal and an assist and classmate Casey Collette added two assists to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) field hockey team to a 3-1 victory over Castleton University in a non-league game at Harkness Field. The Engineers improve to 5-11, while the Spartans drop to 12-4.

Trailing 1-0 in the second half, Dolinar got the equalizer 11:36 into the frame when her shot from the left side off a penalty corner deflected off a Castleton player's stick, carried over the head of goalkeeper Tashia Pashby-Rockwell and fell into the goal. Collette, who inserted the ball, was credited with the assist, her team-leading third of the campaign.

Rensselaer took a 2-1 lead 10:13 later when junior Charisse Stakutis followed up her own shot from close range and pushed the ball past the goalie and a defender for her third of the year. Rensselaer increased its lead to two goals on a set play off a corner in which Collette inserted the ball to Dolinar, who passed it along the turf, allowing Mikaela DiBello to deflect it into the air and over the goal line. The tally, which came with 5:15 to play in regulation, was the team-leading 10th of the season for DiBello, a senior.

The Spartans took a 1-0 lead at 27:33 thanks to a penalty stroke goal from sophomore Loretta Blakeney. Castleton was awarded the stroke following an Engineers infraction in the circle and Blakeney capitalized with a shot into the upper left of the goal. It was her 11th of the season.

Rensselaer freshman Marissa Florio earned the win in the cage – the first of her career – by stopping six shots. Senior Taylor Clink added a defensive save for the Engineers, who had a 16-11 advantage in shots and a 14-7 margin in penalty corners.

Pashby-Rockwell made four saves for the Spartans, who got a defensive save from Sarah Wells. Castleton finishes the regular season on Saturday at Keene State (1:30pm).

Rensselaer travels to Oneonta on Saturday (1pm) before going to No. 6 Vassar College for the Liberty League Semifinals on October 31 (6pm).
