LATHAM, N.Y. - Down 4-3 as a team, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athletes Tess Lubin and Andrea Valencia both pulled out come-from-behind, third-set victories to propel the Engineers to a 5-4 victory over Ithaca College in a Liberty League match at Tri City Fitness. The Engineers improve to 9-5 overall and 2-4 in the conference, while the Bombers are now 3-9 and 1-6.

Valencia, a junior, tied the match at 4-4 with a win at No. 3, 4-6, 7-5, 6-4, to defeat Caroline Dunn. Lubin, a sophomore, closed out the win for RPI when she took down Kathryn Shaffer at No. 2, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.

Ithaca opened the day with a win at No. 3 doubles, but the Engineers won the other two for a 2-1 lead going into singles. The Bombers tied the score with a win at No. 1 before taking a 4-3 lead with wins at Nos. 5 and 4. 

Rensselaer is now idle until April 24 when it travels to Schenectady to face Union College (4pm).
