RPI TV to Air Saturday's Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony takes place on Saturday beginning at 6pm and the evening's events will be webcast live by RPI TV at www.rpitv.org. The Class of 2018 consists of Whitney Coleman '10 (basketball), Amy Huling '06 (softball), Patrick Reardon '10 (baseball), Jimmy Robertson '09 (football) and Trevor Tersmette '05 (track & field).

A guard from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Coleman played 104 career games, averaging 14.7 points and 6.7 rebounds in 30.0 minutes. She also had 307 assists, 187 steals and 69 blocked shots while helping the Engineers to 65 victories and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. She was the school record holder for points in a career with 1,550 and currently ranks second. The two-time captain was a four-time All-Liberty League selection, the conference's Rookie of the Year as a freshman and the Player of the Year as a senior. She was a two-time Rensselaer Female Athlete of the Year and the Career Athlete honoree in 2010. Coleman, a National All-America in 2010, graduated with a B.S. in Electronic Media Arts & Communication and an M.S. in Human-Computer Interaction.

A native of Vienna, Va., Huling was a pitcher and outfielder who was a two-time captain, four-time All-League honoree and named All-Region three times. In 124 career games, she hit .365 with 24 doubles, two triples and five home runs while scoring 78 runs and knocking in 116. The civil engineering major hit .446 as a junior, scored 37 runs as a senior and had 45-or-more hits twice. She was All-League as an outfielder three times, designated player once and and pitcher twice. From the circle Huling, an All-America (utility) as a senior, was 30-14 with a 1.68 earned run average and 235 strikeouts in 57 appearances. She helped RPI to a 93-40-2 record, including a school record 36 wins (36-6) and an NCAA Tournament appearance in her senior year.

A catcher from Troy, N.Y., Reardon was a four-year starter who earned All-Liberty League four times, All-Region three times and All-America once. He was the Liberty League Player of the Year, the ECAC Upstate Player of the Year and a National All-America in 2008 when he hit .409. The business and management major finished his career batting .386 (227 for 588) with 59 doubles – two shy of the school record – three triples and 22 home runs. He also scored 171 runs with 155 runs batted in and 20 stolen bases to go with a .609 slugging percentage and a .484 on-base percentage, aided by 105 walks. Reardon helped the Engineers set the school record for wins in a season in both 2008 (36) and 2009 (37) with those teams advancing to the NCAA Tournament Regional Final. 

Robertson, a quarterback from Yonkers, N.Y., set the school career records for completion percentage (60.2%), passing attempts (1259), completions (758), passing yards (9632) and total offense (10,157) as a four-year starter. He threw 78 touchdowns and only 29 interceptions in 39 games in earning All-Liberty League four times while helping the team to a 31-9 record - including three eight-win seasons - and an appearance in the 2007 NCAA Playoffs. The Liberty League Rookie of the Year as a freshman and Offensive Player of the Year as a senior, Robertson also ran for 525 yards and five touchdowns. The two-time captain graduated with a B.S. in Business and Management and an M.S. in Management.

Tersmette, a native of Barneveld, N.Y., was an NCAA All-America in the decathlon as a senior when he also garnered Most Valuable Field Performer of the Meet at the New York State Outdoor Championship as well as the Liberty League Field Performer of the Year. He was the conference and state Field Performer of the Year in indoor that year, 2005. Tersmette set the school mark in the pentathlon before establishing a new Rensselaer record in the decathlon (6610) and automatically qualifying for the NCAA Championship Meet, where he would finish fifth in Division III. The league's Outdoor Track Performer of the Year in 2004, Tersmette was the team's Most Valuable Performer three times. An aeronautical engineering and mechanical engineering major, he was a CoSIDA National Academic All-America as a senior.
