Softball to Host Clarkson & Skidmore this Weekend

LIBERTY LEAGUE WEEKEND
After a week off due to weather constrictions, Rensselaer (17-7, 7-1 Liberty League) is back in action hosting conference double headers with Clarkson (5-18-1, 0-4 Liberty League) on Saturday and Skidmore (15-13, 2-4 Liberty League) on Sunday, both at 1pm.

WIN STREAK
The Engineers are currently on a four-game win streak after sweeping Rochester and RIT at home… RPI took game one 5-0 while winning game two on a walkoff double from senior Christine White to take the contest 6-5… sophomore Maddie Provencher led Rensselaer offense with a combined 4-for-6 effort and 1.500 slugging percentage with a three-run homer, two doubles, six RBI's and two runs… senior pitcher Sarah Harms (12-4) picked up both wins over 10.0 innings of work… in the second sweep over RIT, the Engineers won both games in five innings 11-0 and 13-2… senior Rebecca Kienz combined for a 3-for-5 effort with five RBI's, three runs and one stolen base with Provencher combined for a .800 batting average and 1.200 slugging percentage off two singles, two doubles, three runs and two RBI's… rounding out the offensive leaders for RPI was sophomore Veronica DeStefano with a team-high four runs while going 2-for-4 with two doubles, four RBI's and one stolen base.

WEEKLY AWARDS
Harms and Provencher were both selected as the Liberty League and ECAC Softball Pitcher and Performer of the Week, respectively… Harms went back-to-back in Liberty League honors with her third overall.

THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS
Clarkson comes into the contest on a four-game losing streak after getting swept by Union and Ithaca… junior Kat Plescow was named to the Liberty League Weekly Honor Roll after going 3-for-9 with an RBI, one walk and one sacrifice hit… the Golden Knights are looking for their first conference win of the season.

SERIES HISTORY WITH CLARKSON
Rensselaer holds a 7-2 advantage in the series dating back to April 27, 2014… the Engineers are 4-1 when hosting the Golden Knights… the last two series have ended in splits.

THE THOROUGHBREDS
Skidmore split with Hamilton on Wednesday with a 12-1 win in five innings followed by a 7-3 loss in game two… the Thoroughbreds were led on offense by freshman Adriana Garcia and sophomore Emily Popp… Garcia was 3-for-5 with six RBI's, one run, one double, one triple and three walks while Popp was 2-for-8 with four runs, two RBI's and one double… senior Amanda Carilli (12-6) was credited with the game one win with only one earned run and four hits against.

SERIES HISTORY WITH SKIDMORE
RPI is 50-18 with a 35-6 conference record in the overall series with Skidmore dating back to 1982… over the last five years, the series has favored Rensselaer 10-3… the Engineers are on a three-game win streak against the Thoroughbreds while taking the last nine games from Skidmore at home… the last time RPI fell at Doris Robison Field to the Thoroughbreds was May 5, 2010 in a 5-0 final.
