No. 27 Men's Tennis Advances in NCAA Tournament, 5-0

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Freshmen Clay Thompson and Brian Niguidula won at No. 3 doubles and then captured singles matches at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, to lead the No. 27 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team to a 5-0 victory over No. 37 Stevens Institute of Technology in an NCAA Tournament Second Round contest at Bowdoin College. The Engineers improve to 16-3 and advance to face No. 3 Bowdoin in Saturday's Regional Final (11am). The Ducks finish 16-10.

RPI won each of the three doubles matches with Thompson and Niguidula giving it a 3-0 lead with an 8-6 victory. Thompson made it 4-0 with a 6-2, 6-1 win and Niguidula won at No. 4, 6-2, 6-3. The Engineers were leading in three other matches when the contest was concluded.
