TROY, N.Y. - The fourh-seeded Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's lacrosse team is headed to Geneva, N.Y., to take on top-seeded and 16th-ranked William Smith in the Liberty League Semifinals on Saturday morning (11:30am). It is the programs first trip to the semis since 2014.

The Engineers (9-5-1) are averaging 10.73 goals per game and allowing just 9.20. They are converting free-position opportunities at a 28.2% clip (33 for 117) and are clearing the ball at an 81.7% rate. Individually, RPI is paced by junior Maddy Aslansan, who has 38 goals and nine assist for a team-high 47 points - the most by an RPI player since Sophie Hager '16 had 50 in 2015. Classmate Abbey Salvon (25 goals, 4 assists) and senior Allie Claroni (17 goals, 12 assists) have 29 points apiece, while junior Michelle Bolger (22 goals, 4 assists) has 26.

At the defensive end, junior goaltender Aleena Milinski has started all 15 games with a 9-5-1 record. She has a 9.20 goals against average and a .536 save percentage, which are good for seventh and first in the Liberty League, respectively. Senior captain Laurel Dean has been a shut down defender for the Engineers racking up a team-high 40 ground balls and 28 caused turnovers. Junior Erin Goodwin has collected 28 ground balls to go along with 14 caused turnovers and 32 draw controls, which is good for third on the club.

William Smith took the previous meeting on March 23, 2018, winning 7-2 at Boswell Field in Geneva. In that contest, Aslansan and senior Morgan Doyle netted RPI's lone tallies, while Milinski had 15 stops. The Herons own a 20-5 record in the all-time series, including 8-4 mark at home. RPI's last victory came on April 4, 2014 - an 8-6 triumph at Renwyck Field.

The winner of Saturday morning's semifinal will take on the winner of the Ithaca/RIT game on Sunday at 1pm.
