TROY, N.Y. - The 2019 Mayor's Cup games at the Times Union Center have been postponed to Tuesday, January 29, it was announced. The annual contests between the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and Union hockey teams have been rescheduled due to impending weather concerns.

"After extensive consultation with Union and the TU Center, we have agreed to postpone the 2019 Mayor's Cup until January 29th, said Lee McElroy, Vice Presiden and Director of Athletics at RPI. "The safety and welfare of our student athletes, staff, fans, students and family members is paramount in arriving at this decision."

The men's game, which is in its seventh year has seen the Dutchmen win four of the six previous meetings, including two straight victories. The Engineers opened ECAC Hockey play by sweeping then-11th-ranked Union on October 26 and 27. RPI was victorious, 5-3, at the Houston Field House on October 26, before downing the Dutchmen, 4-2, in Schenectady he following night. Junior Jacob Hayhurst recorded three assists in each game, while sophomore Donovan Ott (2 goals, 1 assist) and senior Brady Wiffen (1 goal, 2 assists) had three points apiece in the two contests. Sophomore goaltender Linden Marshall stopped 68 of 73 shots, including 24 of 25 while the Engineers were shorthanded.

On the women's side, RPI pushes record in the all-time series to 33-4-5 with a 4-1 victory over the Dutchwomen on Friday night at the Houston Field House. The Engineers won the inaugural Mayor's Cup game, 2-1, last year at the Times Union Center. Last night, Junior Blake Orosz netted a hat trick and added an assist, while senior Jaimie Grigsby had four helpers. Classmate Lovisa Selander inched closer to the all-time NCAA saves mark with 21 stops.

Union will remain the hosts for this year's Mayor's Cup games, with tickets available here.
