ALL-TIME: Rensselaer and St. Lawrence have faced each other 64 times ... RPI won the first meeting, 14-0 in Troy on October 14, 1916, but is 28-34-2 (.453) in the all-time series with the Saints.

IN THE RECORD BOOK: RPI's 64 games against SLU are the fourth most against any one opponent … The 28 wins and 34 losses are both fifth in those respective categories.

STREAKS: After the Engineers went unbeaten in the first five games with St. Lawrence (4-0-1), the Saints won the next eight contests from 1925 to 1961 and 22 of 23 from 1925 to 1982 ... Rensselaer is 23-12-1 since the 1982 meeting, including wins in each of the last two matchups. 

RECENTLY: The Engineers are 5-5 (.500) in their last 10 games with the Saints, including 1-3 in Canton in that span ... SLU has won three of the past four meetings at home against Rensselaer, though RPI won the most recent contest, 21-17.

OCTOBER 28, 2017: George Marinopoulos found Marc Meislahn in the end zone from seven yards out with 17 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to give RPI a 21-17 victory at St. Lawrence ... Mike Tivinis, who rushed 15 times for 109 yards, had RPI's two other touchdowns, both on the ground (31 & 4 yards) ... He also caught two passes for 27 yards, both on the final drive ... The Engineers responded to a Saints touchdown with just 2:06 left with an 11-play, 71-yard drive, culminated with Marinopoulos threading a pass through three St. Lawrence defenders to Meislahn at the back of the end zone ... RPI held the Saints to 43 yards on the ground ... Linebacker Jack Hoggard made a team-high (tied) seven tackles, including four unassisted and two sacks for a total loss of 17 yards ... He also intercepted a pass and had a pass breakup.

ALL-TIME IN CANTON: In 29 road games against St. Lawrence, the Engineers are 9-19-1 (.328).

LEAGUE PLAY: RPI is 17-7 (.708) all-time against the Saints in Liberty League games ... The two programs were previously members of the ICAC, in which St. Lawrence held an 18-4-1 (.803) advantage from 1964 to 1990.

LAST SEASON: Conor Davies scored a pair of touchdowns and the Rensselaer defense held St. Lawrence to only 19 yards rushing as the Engineers defeated the Saints 27-20 to clinch the Liberty League title and the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Playoffs ... Davies caught a team-best six passes for 67 yards, including a 13-yard TD, and rushed six times for 53 yards and a 3-yard touchdown – all out of the Wildcat ... Quarterback George Marinopoulos (17 of 30) threw for a career-best 386 yards and two touchdowns with passing plays of 71, 65 and 64 yards – to three different receivers ... Peter Lombardi had two catches for 93 yards ... John Sadak paced a balanced defensive attack with nine tackles, including four unassisted and 0.5 for lost yards (1), along with two pass breakups ... Andres Guisasola made seven tackles (1 solo) with a pass breakup, one of 10 from the Engineers ... SLU quarterback Tyler Grochot completed 36 of 71 attempts for 412 yards ... Anthony Ferraro had 16 receptions for 182 yards and Sean McCormack grabbed nine balls for 102 yards for the Saints, who ran the ball just 14 times ... Kyle Frimel had nine tackles (5 solo), an interception and a pass breakup and Tyler Burns finished with eight tackles (6 solos).

COMMON OPPONENTS: RPI and St. Lawrence have just one common opponent to date ... The Engineers defeated Utica 35-33 on September 21 in Troy, while the Saints lost to the Pioneers 40-14 in Utica on September 7.

ST. LAWRENCE TO DATE: The Saints opened the season with road losses at Utica (40-14) and Norwich (30-24) before defeating Morrisville State 32-22 and Hartwick 33-0 in home games ... They lost to Ithaca 59-20 at home on October 5 and then fell at Union 38-17 on October 19.

SLU LAST WEEK: Union outscored the Saints 21-0 in the second half and the No. 25 Dutchmen defeated St. Lawrence by that margin, 38-17 ... Tyler Grochot finished the day 26 for 47 passing for 341 yards for the Saints ... Andrew Murphy caught five passes for 142 yards and Joseph Viscardo had 74 receiving yards on four catches ... Ethan Roberts led the Saints defense with 11 tackles, including one sack and 2.5 tackles for lost yards ... Liam Murray added 11 tackles with one behind the line of scrimmage.

RPI TWO WEEKS AGO: Hobart led 14-7 at halftime and then scored on it first four possessions of the second half on its way to a 41-27 victory over Rensselaer ... George Marinopoulos completed 18 of 39 passes for 220 yards and a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns in defeat ... Junior wide receiver Vinnie McDonald caught a team-high six passes for a team-high 105 yards and a 12-yard TD ... Sophomore running back Dylan Burnett rushed for a game-high 50 yards and a 2-yard TD on 10 carries ... Defensive end Magnus Wamble led the Engineers with seven tackles, including two for lost yards ... Linebacker Grant Tragni had six tackles.

STATISTICAL LEADERS: Rensselaer is first in the Liberty League in three team categories, including rushing defense (61.3 yards per game), sacks against (5) and point-after-touchdowns (25 for 25) ... St. Lawrence is first in opponent fourth down conversions (3 for 11, 27.3%).

RPI IN WEEK 5: The Engineers scored 24 points in the second quarter and held Rochester off the scoreboard throughout on its way to a 38-0 victory at East Campus Stadium ... Rensselaer intercepted three passes and recovered two fumbles while holding the Yellowjackets to 131 yards of offense through three quarters and 210 in total.

RPI IN WEEK 4: George Marinopoulos threw three touchdown passes and the RPI defense got at least one tackle from 31 different student-athletes as the Engineers shut out Anna Maria College 38-0 in a non-league game at East Campus Stadium ... Rensselaer took control with 28 first quarter points, including a pair of touchdown passes from its junior quarterback.

RPI IN WEEK 3: Senior defensive back Joey Gutowski broke up the potential game-tying two-point conversion with 19 seconds left in the fourth quarter and RPI defeated Utica 35-33 in a night game at East Campus Stadium ... Trailing by eight points with 2:57 to play in regulation, the Pioneers gained possession on their own 33-yard line and connected on six completions, the last of which was a 1-yard scoring strike ... Gutowski batted away the two-point try and the Engineers recovered the onside kick to seal the win.

RPI IN WEEK 2: Junior Bryce Wade connected on two field goals, including the game-winner from 26 yards out with 3:52 left in regulation, to lift WPI to a 6-3 win over No. 19 RPI in the Transit Trophy Game ... After Wade put the hosts ahead, RPI drove to the WPI 35 but fumbled after a pass reception and the ball was recovered by WPI ... Wade also made a 25-yarder with 4:24 to go in the first quarter to put WPI up before junior Sanjay Krishnan nailed a 27-yard FG with 17 seconds left in the first quarter to tie the game.

RPI IN WEEK 1: Senior Marc Meislahn scored two 1-yard touchdowns and junior George Marinopoulos threw two touchdowns and ran for one as No. 19 Rensselaer defeated Allegheny 52-14 in a non-league game ... Meislahn, a slot receiver, helped RPI to leads of 7-0 and 38-7 ... He finished with seven yards rushing along with 46 receiving yards on three catches ... Of Rensselaer's 502 yards of total offense, 356 came through the air with Marinopoulos connecting for 276 yards and two scores (1 & 19 yards) on 23 of 35 passing ... He had a 1-yard rushing TD.
