LEWISTON, Maine - Freshman
Abraham Yohannes went 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles to advance to the semifinals in both on the first day of the two-day Wallach Men's Tennis Invitational hosted by Bates College. Action concludes on Sunday beginning with the doubles at 10am.
Yohannes and sophomore
Eddie Wu defeated a team from Bates in the first round 8-2 and a duo from Skidmore 8-5 in the quarterfinals. Playing in the B Flight, hey face a team from Brandeis on Sunday morning. RPI's other B Flight team,

Phoenix Tamaoki won their first round match 8-4 before losing in the quarters.
In singles, Yohannes advanced to the semifinals in the B Flight after defeating an opponent from Colby 6-3, 6-1 in the Round of 16 and another from Tufts 7-5, 6-0 in the quarterfinals. He faces an opponent from Bowdoin in the semifinals.
Playing in the semifinals of the D Flight is senior
Zack Ebenfeld, who won his first round match 6-1, 7-5 over an opponent from Skidmore and his quarterfinal match 7-5, 6-4 against a foe from Tufts. Another member of the Jumbos is the opposition on Sunday.
Sophomore
Dylan Payne had a first round win in the C Flight, but lost his next match.
Overall, Rensselaer went 5-6 in singles and 3-3 in doubles.
