CANTON, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's cross country team had three finishers in the top 7 in a field of 299 and the nationally-ranked Engineers finished second at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Region Cross Country Championship held at St. Lawrence University. With the win, No. 16 RPI earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship next Saturday in Louisville, Ky.
For the third straight year, Rensselaer had the individual winner as senior
Noah Falasco won the 8K race, which he finished in 25:13.3, a victory of just over a second in front of SUNY Geneseo's Sean McAneny (25:14.1). They both ran 5:05 per mile paces. Falasco joined former teammate
Grant O'Connor as winners over the past three seasons.

Joe Domanico was fifth overall with a time of 25:28.8 (5:06 pace) and junior
Henry Jaques was two spots behind, crossing in 25:27.9 (5:08). Senior
Jake Kloman was fourth on the team and 18th overall with a time of 25:45.2 and senior
Johnny Capobianco was fifth and 26th in 25:59.8.
Each of those five, along with senior
Danny Napora (26:01.7) earned All-Region.

The Engineers, who won last season and were second in 2017, had 57 points, which trailed only No. 9Â Geneseo (59), which had four of the top six finishers. No. 23 St. Lawrence was third (136), followed by No. 29 Ithaca (137) and No. 27 Oneonta (166).
RPI has competed in the NCAA Championship each of the past four years. It will race for this year's national championship on Saturday. The full field for the event is to be announced on Sunday.
