Box Score NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Chase Gresock netted a hat trick to lead the Merrimack College men's hockey team to a 5-1 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), on Saturday night at Lawler Rink. With the win, the Warriors improve to 3-9-2 overall, while the Engineers drop to 5-8-1.

After Ben Brar scored his first collegiate goal just 22 seconds into the game, Gresock got his night started at 3:59, burying a cross-ice feed from Jordan Seyfert for the first of his three tallies on the night. Jacob Modry earned the secondary assist on the play.

Merrimack took its 2-0 lead to the first intermission with the shots even at 9-9.

Rensselaer senior Jake Marrello got the visitors on the board at 6:24 of the second period, when his shot from the high slot made its way past Warriors netminder Jere Huhtamaa for his fourth goal of the season. Sophomore Brady Ferner and senior TJ Samec collected the assist on the goal that brought RPI with 2-1.

Gresock answered a minute later, with helpers to Logan Drevitch and Zach Vinnell to push the lead back to two (3-1). He then completed the hat trick at 16:30 of the second with a 4-on-4 goal. Liam Dennison and Vinnell had the assists on Gresock's fifth goal of the year.

Drevich then capped the scoring for the Warriors at 5:34 of the third. Regan Kimens had the lone assist on Drevich's second tally.

RPI enjoyed a late five-minute power play, but were unable to stick a second puck past Huhtamaa, who finished with 28 saves. Sophomore Owen Savory had 22 stops at the other end of the ice.

The Engineers are back in action next weekend, when they host Yale and Brown on Friday (7pm) and Saturday (7pm), respectively, at the Houston Field House. Merrimack opens a home-and-home series with New Hampshire on Saturday in Durham.
