LATHAM, N.Y. - Freshman
Brenda Peng had a hand in two victories, but it was not enough as the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team dropped a Liberty League contest to Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) 7-2 at Tri-City Fitness. The match was the first conference contest for the Engineers, who are now 6-6 overall. The Tigers improve to 6-3 and 2-2 in league play.
Peng and senior
Andrea Valencia worked together to earn a victory at No. 3 doubles, 8-6, to pull RPI to within a point heading to singles. RIT won the first three singles matches to clinch a win, but Peng earned a win at No. 4, 6-2, 6-2, to earn a second point.
Rensselaer's
Junjia Lyu and Valencia both played into third sets, but dropped their respective matches.
