NORWALK, Calif. - Freshman
Dylan Payne posted a pair of victories, including one of three wins from Nos. 3-6 singles, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) defeated the Cerritos College men's tennis team, 5-4. The Engineers, ranked No. 33 in Division III, improve to 3-1, while the Falcons, who compete in the CCCAA, fall to 7-2. It was the first loss in seven matches for Cerritos.
Payne joined with junior
Zack Ebenfeld at No. 3 doubles and the tandem earned an 8-2 victory. Rensselaer's No. 1 team of
Andrew Imrie and
Sebastian Castillo-Sanchez also won, 8-3.
In singles, Payne won at No. 6, while
Yudai Teruyama won at No. 5 and
Brian Niguidula captured a win at No. 4. All three victories came in straight sets.
