Softball Hosts Rival Union Sunday (1pm)

Engineers and Dutchwomen square off in critical league doubleheader

SUNDAY SOFTBALL
The Engineers welcome Union College to Doris Robison Field for a Sunday doubleheader on Easter ... First pitch is scheduled for 1pm.

RPI SPLITS AT SKIDMORE
The Engineers rallied three times to win Game 1 at Skidmore, 6-5 in 8 innings, before falling in the nightcap, 9-1 ... Junior Maddie Provencher hit the go-ahead home run in the top of the eighth to propel the Engineers to victory, while going 2 for 3 at the plate ... Erika Holowka worked the final 4.0 innings to earn the win in relief.

ALL-TIME VS. UNION
The Dutchwomen own a 41-37 lead in the all-time series, which dates back to April 14, 1980 ... RPI won the inaugural meeting, 12-6, in Troy ... The Engineers are 27-19 in conference play and 22-14 at home. 

RECENTLY
Rensselaer has won six of the last seven meetings, including a Liberty League Tournament game last May, 8-0, at Doris Robison Field ... The two teams split their regular season series, giving Union its first win since 2015.

2018 VS. THE DUTCHWOMEN
The Engineers won the opener of a league doubleheader, 9-0, before Union came back to earn a split, 6-5 ... Sarah Harms went 6.0 innings in the win, with Christine White and Kyla Anderson both going 4 for 4 at the plate ... The two teams then met in the Liberty League Tournament opener, with RPI winning 8-0 ... Victoria Greco was 3 for 4, while Veronica DeStefano was 2 for 4 with a double and three runs.

LEAGUE IMPLICATIONS 
RPI is currently sitting in fifth place in the Liberty League standings with six conference games remaining ... The Engineers host Union for two on Sunday, before welcoming Ithaca to Troy on Friday and traveling to St. Lawrence to close out the regular season on April 27 (3:30pm).
