Williamstown, Mass. – The Williams College women's tennis team is hosting the Lindsay Morehouse Invitational with Middlebury, Skidmore and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute all competing at the invitational, which is named in honor of one of the three Williams alumni who lost their lives on 9/11.
The day's matches were exclusively doubles affairs, with Middlebury taking on Skidmore and Williams dueling with RPI. Middlebury took three out of four matches with Skidmore. Williams swept their doubles matches with RPI. The pairing of Chloe Henderson '20 and Maya Jamroz '23 dispatched the pairing of
Rani Jones and
Alex Mednikova with a score of 8-3. Emily Zheng '20 and Zoe Bennett '23 downed
Brenda Peng and
Sanjana Surapeneni 8-5. Lastly, Katherine Orgielwicz '23 and Sarah Yank '20 beat
Krisia Flores and
Chloe Barr by the score of 8-2.
The Lindsay Morehouse Invitational will continue tomorrow and Sunday with all schools playing each other in a round robin format. Singles matches will complement doubles matches tomorrow, even as a threat of rain is in the forecast. There will be no champion of the Invitational, so as to allow the most players to compete as possible.
