2021 Men's Lacrosse Roster Revealed

TROY, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's lacrosse team has added 17 newcomers in the Class of 2024 to go along with 15 members of the Class of 2021. The team, led by head coach Scott Hackett-Dalgliesh, has student-athletes from more than 19 different states with at least 15 different majors being studied.

Below is information about the team makeup as well as notes about the squad and individual student-athletes:

  • Team GPA in spring 2020 was 3.60 (46 student-athletes) ... Cumulative GPA was 3.33
  • Team members consistently participate in community service initiatives, including Headstrong, Special Olympics and Everybody Wins! Power Lunch.
  • Brian Doughty (Glenelg, MD / Glenelg) was an Integration and Test Engineer at Northrop Grumman, where he aided in the redesign of the Electronic Component Work Center at a satellite manufacturing facility. He also has experience as a supply chain engineer at the Price Chopper/Market 32 distribution center.
  • Trey Froehlich (Austin, TX / Regents School of Austin) was a research analyst for Toro Energy based in Austin during the summers of 2018 and 2019.
  • Drew Teff (Middleton, WI / Middleton) interned with Life Style Staffing. His father played football at Navy and his mother was an All-America in softball at Wisconsin-Parkside. He has an uncle who played in the NFL and another who wrestled at the United States Air Force Academy.
  • Ely Kalkstein (Fayston, VT / Harwood Union) competed in the 2020 Freeride Junior World Championship in Austria.
  • Ryan Cole (Medina, OH / Medina) was a research Intern at the biomedical engineering lab at the Cleveland Clinic, performing data analysis for numerous cognitive assessments for Parkinson's patients.
  • Tim Oslislo (Arnold, MD / Broadneck) was a project support intern with the Jacobs Engineering Group and an assistant project coordinator for JPG Plumbing and Mechanical Services. He is currently working on the development of a self-bussing table. His father played lacrosse at Loyola.
  • Trevor Tocchet (Pittsburgh, PA / Mt. Lebanon) has an internship this summer at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Data Protection Engineer. His father played in the NHL from 1984-2002, winning three Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He is currently the head coach of the Arizona Coyotes.
  • Billy Fisher (Camillus, NY / West Genesee) has a sister who played lacrosse at Ithaca. Their father played lacrosse at Yale.
  • Cian Hilkewich (Calgary, AB / Trinity-Pawling School) has an uncle who played rugby for Team Canada and professionally in Wales.
  • Samuel Tackett (Butler, PA / The Kiski School) has a brother who played lacrosse at RIT. Their mother swam at Dickinson, where their father played football. 
  • Robby Gale (Lakeville, MN / Lakeville North) had a Medical Clerkship at the Medical University of Vienna, where he watched surgery and did clinical research.
  • Will Hatcher's (Danbury, CT / Immaculate) father and brother both graduated from Rensselaer. His father played basketball and his brother played basketball and tennis. Another brother played tennis at Bentley.
  • Owen Putman (Ballston Lake, NY / Shenendehowa) has interned with Atlantic Testing Labs and Jersen Construction.
  • Nick Porter (Quechee, VT / Hartford) has a sister who played field hockey at Rensselaer. His brother-in-law played baseball for the Engineers and his father played lacrosse at Gettysburg.
  • Chris Calicchia (Loudonville, NY / Shaker) interned with the NYS Department of Transportation. He has a brother who graduated from Rensselaer.
  • Connor Patterson's (Farmingdale, NY / Farmingdale) brother played lacrosse at NYIT.
  • Chris Abbate (Northport, NY / Northport Senior) has had five internships at three different firms: Judlau Contracting, Bohler Engineering and R&M Engineering. He has also been a research assistant in the civil engineering department and is currently working with a graduate professor in civil and environmental engineering. He has sisters who ran cross country and track and played soccer at Binghamton, respectively. Another sister played soccer at George Washington.
  • Jack Greene's (Cohasset, MA / Cohasset) father played football at Plymouth State.
  • Alex Ehrenstein (Boca Raton, FL / Spanish River) is a licensed private pilot who also raced motorcycles in the Champion Cup Series and Florida Motorcycle Road Racing Association. He was the 2017 Series 250-class champion. His father graduated from Rensselaer, Class of '85.
  • Nolan Farina (Wentworth, NH / Plymouth Regional) plays on the football team.
  • Anthony Mazzella's (Madison, NJ / Madison) father played football at Fordham.
  • Connor Schnapp (Lake Oswego, OR / Lakeridge) has had internships with Sherwin-Williams and Plug Power.
  • Garrett Gagnon (Glastonbury, CT / Glastonbury) has a grandfather and an uncle who both played lacrosse at Rensselaer. 
  • Dan Myers (Hainesport, NJ / Rancocas Valley Regional) was selected to represent Puerto Rico at the 2020 World Lacrosse Under-19 Championship in Ireland.
  • Zach Lima (Chatham, NJ / Seton Hall Prep.) worked on an engineering lab team to develop an idea to disinfect COVID-19 infected N-95 masks. He has also had internships with Mott-MacDonald and Liquiflo Inc. His sister captained the lacrosse team at URI.
  • Jon Matkin (Valencia, CA / West Ranch) worked with Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in data analytics, predictive analytics, and data visualization.
  • Kevin Hunt (Hawthorn Woods, IL / Carmel Catholic) has had summer internships after both his freshman and sophomore years, mainly checking cost sheets and proposing plans to villages and cities for road reconstruction. His father swam and dove at UAlbany and his sister played college golf. A cousin, Amanda Lynch, played on the basketball and lacrosse teams at Rensselaer.
  • Jason Bram (Reading, PA / The Hill School) had a strategic relationship development internship with Ayco. His father was a gymnast at Temple, where he was national runner-up in the still rings and parallel bars.
  • Davis Johnson (West Friendship, MD / St. Paul School) has experience in the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab.
  • Devon Boyko (Zionsville, PA / Emmaus) had an internship with Air Products. In high school he cut and donated over 10 inches of his hair and has been growing it out again and will donate it again when it gets long enough. His mother played basketball at Keystone.
  • Kyle Pelcher (Baldwinsville, NY / Baldwinsville) was a manufacturing intern at SABIC. He also did research in the chemical engineering department on using plastic structures to model permeable surfaces.
  • Kyle Shirk (Newtown, CT / Newtown) is an accomplished piano player. His mother was an Olympic gymnast who earned induction into the University of Pittsburgh's inaugural Hall of Fame, along with Dan Marino, among others.
  • Tyler Nalls (Glenwood, MD / Glenelg) had a summer internship at Harkins Builders. He has a brother (Lindenwood) and a sister (UNC) who play college lacrosse.
  • Ryan Albrecht (Hampstead, NH / Pinkerton Academy) had an internship at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, performing materials testing and failure analysis for the Navy.
  • Caleb Oswari (Mt. Laurel, NJ / Lenape) is a talented musician who plays the trumpet and piano.
  • Cooper Urban (Glen Mills, PA / Salesianum School) was the Rensselaer Athletics Male Freshman Athlete of the Year. His brother played lacrosse at Mount Saint Mary and their father played rugby and soccer at Colgate.
  • Nick DeOliveira (Lanoka Harbor, NJ / Lacey Township) was a temporary construction inspector with the New York State Department of Transportation in the Summer of 2020. He was a design engineer intern at Boswell Engineering the previous summer.
  • Nicholas Colucci (Churchville, NY / Churchville-Chili) is in Army ROTC.
  • Connor Glosner (Auburn, NH / Derryfield) has done freelance app development and done systems engineering and cyber work for Northrop Grumman.
