LATHAM, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team had a victory at No. 1 doubles, but the Engineers could manage only two singles victories in dropping a non-league match to Wellesley College, 6-3 at Tri-City Fitness. RPI's record is now even at 2-2, while the Blue improve to 1-2.
Rensselaer's No. 1 pair of
Alex Mednikova and
Rani Jones won 8-2 to start the day, but Wellesley won the other two doubles matches for the lead. Jones, a freshman, tied things up with a win at No. 2 singles, but the Blue won the next two to take a 4-2 lead. A three-set win at No. 1 clinched the match for the visitors.
