Favorite sports memory during career?
"Our spring training trip this year. In addition to getting out of Troy for warmer weather, it was fun spending a week with my teammates. We got to go to the beach, cook dinner and play cards. Everything we did was fun because we were always together. The uninterrupted time that I got to spend with my best friends together is something that I will never forget." - March 2020
What makes Rensselaer so special?
"My teammates were always there for me no matter what. Everyday I got the opportunity to go out to practice and spend two hours with my best friends. RPI is special because I had a bond with my teammates both on and off the field. Everyone of them felt the pressure that academics brought all of us, but we were all there to support each other. That doesn't happen at other schools. Our team spent countless hours at practices, lifts and games, and I would choose to spend countless more hours with all of them." - March 2020
What are your post-graduation plans?
"I have accepted a full time position for Ecolab as a Total Production Maintenance Engineer at their plant in Martinsburg, W.V." - March 2020
From the coaching staff:
"Watching Kyla evolve, as a player and a person, was a privilege. While she whispered only a few words her freshman year, she found her voice and became a leader. Kyla is secretly, or not-so-secretly, the most competitive person on our team - and that translates off the field, as well. Even with her fierce drive to win, she presents herself as level-headed and analytical. This is the most perfect combination for leadership. Everything Kyla does is full-tilt with no expectation for recognition. She is one of the strongest women on the team and her community service efforts are making a difference." - April 2020
What others say:
"Kyla is mentally the toughest person I have ever met. She grew into her role as a leader on the field this year and served as a coach on the field for the defense. She kept our team grounded and is always there for support or advice whether it's lacrosse, school or otherwise. You can't find a better friend or teammate; she is selfless, always putting others and the team above herself, but in a quiet and self assured way that I admire." - March 2020
"Kyla constantly puts others above herself. She is someone who will do the right thing even if no one is looking. In the last four years, she and the other seniors have taken it upon themselves to ensure that everyone on the team feels that their voice is not only heard but is important. Kyla is the definition of a good teammate." - March 2020
"A defensive asset, she has a very unique way of playing, but she was strong, confident and reliable on defense. She is also so competitive and brought that to the team on and off the field." March 2020
"Kyla is a significant leader on our team. I'm always impressed with her ability to take criticism or advice and act on it immediately. Her ability to quickly understand when something isn't working right and to fix it makes her a really valuable part of the team." - April 2020
"Strong, vital player on the defensive end. She always challenged me during practice as an attacker, which is something everyone should strive to do." - April 2020
"Kyla is a rock on our team. She has an amazing ability to lead on the field no matter the situation, and off the field she's selfless and kind of an amazing cook." - April 2020
"Kyla is an insanely hard worker and great leader. She always puts the team before herself and is willing to help whenever she is needed on or off the field. It is inspiring to see her push through so much pain and exhaustion when she knows the team needs her amazing defensive skills, even when she can barely hold her stick." - April 2020
"Kyla sets a great example of what is wanted from a teammate, student, captain and friend. She never complained, was always willing and happy to help others, and she is just an all around sweetheart." - April 2020
"Kyla is a brick wall and has a strong but calming presence on our defensive end. She leads by example on and off the field by giving her all in everything she does. To this day I have never beaten her on a ground ball and I will miss having her to challenge me every day." - April 2020
"Kyla gives the best advice on the field. She always tells me 'Oh, you could have beat me if you did this' or 'Keep doing that, it will always get a defender'. Kyla may not be the loudest person off the field, but she is one of the funniest. - April 2020
