6/11/2020 2:13:00 PM

At Rensselaer, we are proud to recognize the student-athletes who are members of the Class of 2020. We thank them for their hard work, dedication and tremendous efforts in representing the Institute in a first-class manner academically and athletically. We wish them well as they continue to complete the semester and become Rensselaer alumni / alumnae.

While at Rensselaer:
Left field ... Played 125 career games, 117 as starter ... Batted .293 with 22 doubles, two triples and 63 runs batted in ... Had 14 sacrifice bunts and two sacrifice flies ... Stole 12 bases ... Batted .405 (15 for 37) with two doubles and two home runs in 2020 ... All-Liberty League twice ... Mechanical Engineering major ... Dean's Honor List ... Intern at Nypro.

Favorite sports memory during career?
"If I had to choose just one, it would be the indescribable feeling during our last two games this past season. The remainder of our season has just been canceled that morning due to the pandemic sweeping the world but we still had two games to play that night and you could feel the determination in everyone; we weren't going to let anything stop us from going out winners. All seven of our seniors were on the field together for the entirety of both games. We made all the fielding plays, we had some crazy batting statistics, and we took those two games 26-4 in just 11.5 innings. The ultimate culmination of four years of hard work together. We poured our hearts out into those two games and truly demonstrated what it means to leave it all on the field. That was one of the best feelings of wholesome team victory I will ever feel." - April 2020

What makes Rensselaer so special?
"The unique blend of rigorous academics and competitive athletics is what drew me to Rensselaer. Realistically, I knew that professional athletics wouldn't be my career and that a technical field would suit me better, but I also knew I wouldn't be happy playing softball in a program that didn't compete every single time they stepped on the field. RPI gave me the opportunity to train and compete at an incredibly high level while still gaining an invaluable education, both of which I believe have set me up for success beyond my time at Rensselaer." - April 2020

What are your post-graduation plans?
"I will be returning to Rensselaer for an MS in the Supply Chain Management Co-Term program." - April 2020

From the coaching staff:
"Maddie is the player who refuses to lose. Her quiet confidence lets her talent shine through on and off the field. Her passion for the game is contagious and pushes everyone around her to be better." - April 2020

What others say:
"Never had a worry when the ball went up to left field when Maddie was playing. She can track a ball like no other and came up huge with diving plays on several occasions. She led by example and was never afraid to speak up. Amazing teammate and friend." - March 2020

"Don't even think about hitting a ball to left field, because Maddie will catch anything out there. She is the only player in the Liberty League that can catch any pop fly or line drive while running up the hill on our home field. Her ball tracking skills are the best I have seen from an outfielder, added with her gun of an arm." - March 2020

"Maddie is a silent leader and I admire that a lot. She comes to the field every day ready to work. She is an example to all of the underclassman and supports them without ever saying anything. She is such a great teammate and someone I will miss playing with." - March 2020

"Maddie is an incredible outfielder. I've never played with anyone who can read a ball off the bat quite like she can. She covers an incredible amount of field, especially when you consider the mountain in left field she has to climb on our field. The team and I are incredibly lucky that she is coming back for one more year. She is an amazing player, and person in general, who I am proud to call my teammate and friend." - April 2020
