Yudai Teruyama competed in the ITA Cup - one of 16 Division III men's tennis players to qualify - but lost to the top seed in the first round. He then dropped a consolation match.
Teruyama, a junior, faced James Hopper of Case Western Reserve University, the No. 1 seed in the event, but lost 6-3, 6-2. He then went on to play Thomas Yu of Johns Hopkins University in the consolation round, but fell 6-4, 6-0.Â
Action for Teruyama continues on Friday morning with a match against Luke Lemaitre of George Fox University.
