WATERFORD, Conn. - Juniors
Nia Goddard and
Morgan Lee ran as a pair to finish 15th and 16, respectively, and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's cross country team finished 10th in the Caroline Grape '22 Memorial Blue Race hosted by Connecticut College.
RPI finished with 284 points in the 26-school event, which included 10 nationally-ranked programs. No. 6 Williams won with 74 points, followed by No. 12 MIT (99), No. 17 Tufts (122), No. 15 Bates (163) and No. 23 Middlebury (167). Smith, with 242 points, was one spot in front of Rensselaer, while the host Camels were one point in back of the Engineers.
Goddard ran the 6k course in 22:27.50 with 9:59.2 for the first 2.8k and a 12:28.4 the rest of the way. Lee had nearly identical splits (10:00.3 & 12:28.2) to finish in 22:28.50.
Grace Brolly and
Jillian Lees also raced together, finishing in 75th and 79th, respectively. Brolly ran the first 2.8k in 10.52.5 and then charged to a 13:10.0 to finish with a 24:02.40 and move up 19 places. Lees, who ran a 24:11.0, had a 14-place increase thanks to a finishing time of 13:18.7 over the final 3.2k.
Rensselaer is off next weekend and then hosts the Liberty League Championship on October 30 at Saratoga Spa State Park.
