ROCHESTER, N.Y. - In their first meets of the season, Megan Beaulieu and Tony Min both had multiple individual victories but they were not enough to lift the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) swimming & diving teams to victory as both the women's and men's squads lost dual meets at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). The homestanding Tigers won 196-104 on the women's side and 193-105 on the men's.

Beaulieu, a senior, captured the 100 back in a time of 1:01.49 and the 200 back in 2:14.82, swimming one and two seconds faster than Elle Holland of RIT in the two events, respectively.

Also victorious for Rensselaer's women's team was Shannon Brown in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:00.47 and Gabriela Crother-Collado in the 500 free. She touched the wall in 5:29.52 to out-pace the effort of the runner-up, Quincy Cechini of RIT, by five seconds (5:34.91).

Min registered two of the men's five individual victories. The junior won the 200 and 100 butterflies with times of 1:56.17 and 51.56, respectively. He edged teammate Alex Aung in both the 100 (52.59) and 200 (1:57.62) events.

Each of RPI's other wins came in freestyle events, beginning with Matthew Youngbar winning the 1000 in 10:08.90, a 23 second victory over Flynn Lundeen of RIT (10:31.13). Mike Dowd captured the 100 in 48.62, which was .02 in front of Mike Atanasoff of the Tigers (48.64). Atanasoff had previously defeated Dowd in the 50 free, 21.90 to 21.96.

Ethan Gadbois was the winner in the 500 free with a time of 4:56.00, which was five seconds in front of the runner-up (5:01.43).

Both Rensselaer teams are back in competition on October 30 when they host Ithaca College in dual meets at Robison Pool (2pm).
