Box Score LATHAM, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team came off a 14-day break with no rust as the Engineers won eight of nine matches in a Liberty League victory over St. Lawrence University at Tri-City Fitness. The Engineers, who are regionally ranked at No. 15 in the Northeast, improve to 8-6 overall and 2-1 in the conference. The Saints drop to 5-4 and 1-2.
RPI swept the doubles with all three squads holding the opposition to three-or-fewer games won. Rensselaer's top team of
Alex Mednikova and
Rani Jones, which is ranked at No. 10 in the region based on the ITA's announcement on March 25, won 8-2.
Mednikova, a junior who is listed at No. 17 in the singles regional rankings, went on to capture a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1. Four of her teammates were also victorious, including Jones at No. 3,
Brooke Bauer at No. 5 and
Krisia Flores Gonzalez at No. 6. Bauer and Flores Gonzalez also had wins at No. 3 and No. 2 doubles, respectively.
