TROY, N.Y. - Two Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis doubles teams won their first round matches and have advanced to the semifinals of the Siena Invitational to highlight the day for the Engineers. The two-day event features six schools, five of which are Division I, on Sharp Courts on the RPI campus.
For the Engineers, the tandem of
Nikki Ridenour and
Lorna Flores Gonzalez earned a 6-4 win over a duo from Rider University in the B Flight. They advance to play against a squad from Seton Hall University in the semifinals on Saturday at 9am.
Also advancing is the team of
Masha Karach and
Brooke Bauer, who posted a 7-6 (5) victory over opponents from Siena in the C Flight. They also play at 9am on Saturday.
Ridenour captured RPI's lone singles victory with an 8-2 triumph over a foe from Siena in the A Flight. She then lost in the second round against a member of the Saints, 8-2.Â
