SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis doubles team of Lorna Flores Gonzalez and Nikki Ridenour advanced to the final of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional and earned an automatic bid to the ITA Cup, a national invitational to be held in mid-October in Georgia.

The tandem was scheduled to play opponents from Hamilton College in the semifinals but a member of the Continentals was injured during warmups and the match could not be held. With its finals qualification, Flores Gonzales and Ridenour earned the opportunity to play in the ITA Cup. 

In the final, the RPI partners dropped th match to a duo from New York University 6-1, 6-3.

The Engineers have two dual matches to play before the national event. They travel to New Paltz on Wednesday (3:30pm) and host Hamilton on Saturday at noon.
