BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Senior
Morgan Lee finished in a time of 21:05.8 over the 6k course at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University to place seventh of 395 runners in the Women's Brown event. She led the Engineers to a 14th place finish in the 46-school meet.
Lee ran mile times of 5:40.0 and 5:44.2 before turning in a final split of 9:41.7 to go from 13th place to seventh. She was nearly three seconds in front of Jane Leighton of Vermont (21:08.4) and only .3 behind Flora Tissler of Charleston of West Virginia (21:05.5). Lee was the third fastest Division III competitor in the field.
Nia Goddard, also a senior, was second on the team and 24th overall with a finishing time of 21:48.1. She ran splits of 5:40.0, 5:50.2 and 10:18.0, which kept her in the top 25 throughout the race.Â
Finishing third for the Engineers was junior
Olivia Pisacano with a time of 22:47.4. She passed 40 runners after the initial mile to place 107th overall. Senior
Jillian Lees (22:55.0) was 123rd overall and junior
Leah Goodloe (23:41.5) also scored for RPI, which was competing for the first time since September 10.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, the No. 5 team in Division III, won the race with 82 points. George Washington was second with 214 and Lynchburg was third with 251.Â
In the Women's Open 6k, which included 314 runners,
Gianna Coryea led RPI's contingent of nine with a time of 24:49.8 and a 177th place.
Ashley Williams was next on the team with a 25:09.8 (192nd).
