TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's swimming and diving team hosted the RPI Kumpf Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Robison Pool. The Engineers held strong in their own pool, finishing third of five teams on the day.
Headlining the top results for the Engineers was a pair of second place individual finishes from
Mike Dowd and
Tony Min. Dowd scored a second place finish in the men's 200 yard freestyle, while also adding a fourth place finish in the men's 100 yard freestyle. Min collected his second place finish in the men's 200 yard butterfly.
Dan Savidge also had a good day in the pool, as he finished with a third place in the 200 yard backstroke, and a fourth place finish in the 1,000 yard freestyle. Additionally, Andrew Palmer added a fifth place finish in the 500 yard freestyle.
In the diving portion,
Matt Abraham stood out for the Engineers as he scored a fourth place finish in the Men's 1 meter diving, and a sixth place in the Men's 3 meter dive.
The Engineers return to action next Saturday, January 21 when they hit the pool once again in a home meet in Robison Pool in a dual meet with Skidmore College at 1 p.m.
