MADISON, N.J. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team closed the ITA Northeast Regional on a strong note despite dropping the final matches of the singles and doubles finals. The event, hosted by Drew University, now allows the Engineers to send their finals players to national competition in the spring.
Okada Tsubasa faced the third-seeded player in the field in Matt Michibata of The College of New Jersey. The RPI freshman played well, but fell by a 6-1, 7-5 final score. In doubles, Aidan Drover-Mattinen and
Andy Zhu took on Michibata and Harrison Maitland-Carter in the final. The match was closely contested, with RPI falling just short 7-6 (3), 6-3.
Monday's action concludes RPI's action in the fall season.
