TOWSON, Md. - The 10th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team beat 33rd-ranked Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), 5-0, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 19-4 on the season and advance to the NCAA Sweet 16. The Engineers are now 14-7.

Hopkins jumped out to a 2-0 win and then picked up a hard-fought win at third doubles to complete the sweep. Daniel Ardila and Jonathan Zhang put the Blue Jays on the board with an 8-3 win over
Igor Visnevskij and
Abraham Yohannes at second doubles. James and Thomas Yu then beat
Aiden Drover-Mattinen and
Andy Zhu, 8-3, at first. Joe DeMarco and George Jiang closed out doubles with an 8-6 victory at third over
Jonathan McMillan and
Sid Srinivasan.

Zhang was the first one off the court in singles and pushed the Blue Jays' lead to 4-0 as he beat Zhu 6-2, 6-1 at second singles. Thomas Yu then clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win at first over Drover-Mattinen.

Hopkins will now take on fourth-ranked Middlebury on Sunday at noon at the Schroedl Tennis Center at Goucher College.
