TROY, N.Y.- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) field hockey team was on the wrong end of a 4-2 result today in its Liberty League finale today versus Williams Smith.

Nina Caprio and Lauren McCarthy scored one goal each in the setback for the Engineers. Caprio also had an assist to record a multi-point performance.

Caprio deflected home a pass from Grace Johnson in close range, while McCarthy found the back of the net from the top of arc. Caprio led McCarthy into the scoring zone with a perfect pass from the midfield. 

The visiting Herons scored the first four goals of the afternoon before Caprio and McCarthy sliced the margin in the fourth quarter.

The Engineers will close out the 2024 season with a home meeting versus Oneonta on Saturday afternoon.
