Field Hockey Limited in Liberty League Opener at Skidmore

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) field hockey team suffered a 4-0 defeat in its Liberty League opener today at Skidmore.

Four different Thoroughbreds scored in the victory for Skidmore. Ella Costa netted the lone goal of the first half, which was followed by scores from CC Wetter, Colby Paul, and Emma Houff in the final 30 minutes.

Abby Peterson had a team-leading three shots on goal for the Engineers, while Lauren McCarthy had two attempts on frame. Tess Garchinsky had 10 saves on the day, marking the third time the goaltender has reached double-digit saves this fall.

RPI returns home to Harkness Field for its next three games, starting with Wednesday's 6:00 pm matchup with Vassar.
