Box Score TROY, N.Y. - Down 2-1 after doubles play, the Engineers used a strong showing in singles play highlighted by a third set tiebreaker from
Brooke Bauer to take down the St. Lawrence University Saints by a final score of 5-4 on Saturday afternoon. With the win, RPI has now won six straight matches, and sit 7-1 in Liberty League play.
It was the pairing of Bauer and
Prisha Rapur that captured the lone doubles point for the Engineers to start the day. RPI fell down 3-1 after dropping the first singles match before a 6-1, 6-1 win from
Masha Karach brought the Engineers back within a point.Â
Rapur followed up Karach's win with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles before
Lina Krumpel collected a hard-fought three-set win by a final of 4-6, 6-4, 10-8. Up 4-3,the Engineers saw Bauer also come through with a 6-3, 2-6, 10-8 win at No. 5 singles to clinch the match.
RPI returns to action next Sunday, April 28 for their regular season finale at home against Vassar.
