SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team defeated 13-time Liberty League champion Skidmore 4-3 today in Saratoga.

The big victory marked the first time in program history that the RPI women topped Skidmore in dual-match action.

The Engineers split the six singles matches and earned the deciding fourth point after claiming the doubles tilts by a 3-2 margin.

Lorna Flores Gonzalez (6-2, 6-4) and Gauri Muliyil (6-3, 6-4) secured straight-set victories as the respective #2 and #3 singles, while Kaaviya Kannan bounced back for a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory as the number four.

Flores Gonzalez worked with Nicole Ridenour to win 6-0 as the top singles unit. Guliyil and Taylor Chandler would secure the doubles point with a 6-4 triumph in #3 doubles play.

Looking forward, RPI is slated to return the courts on April 12 versus RIT.
