ORLANDO, FL- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team scored wins over Transylvania University and Emory University today in orlando. The Engineers swept Transylvania 7-0 before defeating #5 Emory, which marks the highest nationally-ranked opponent that RPI has defeated in program history.
Aiden Drover-Mattinen, Achit Yemula,
Tasmay Shah, and
Nico Luis provided RPI with critial singles points in the victory against Emory.
Drover-Mattinen came back from a 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 win in number one singles, followed by straight set triumphs for Yemula (6-1, 6-3) and Luis (7-5, 6-3). Shah gave the Engineers the match sealing-point with a marathon 7-6, 2-6, 7-6 victory as the #4.
The Engineers won 12-of-13 sets in singles play earlier the afternoon against Transylvania.
Andy Zhu (6-1, 6-2), Qouc-Uy Vo (6-2, 6-2), and
Joel McCandless (6-3,7-5) won in the respective top-three singles spots, while
Sid Srinivasan (7-6, 6-1),
Jonathan McMillan (7-6, 5-7, 1-0), and
Boris Slesarev (6-3, 6-3) all cruised to singles victories as well.

Pranav Varanasi /
Caden Marston were all victorious by a 6-4 margin in the doubles matchups.
RPI next faces Rhodes on Monday.
