RPI Athletics Ready for Busy Playoff Weekend

TROY, N.Y.- Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) is ready for plenty of Liberty League Championship and NCAA Tournament action throughout this upcoming weekend.

Here is a current look into the week ahead for RPI Athletics:

Play-In Game: #5 St. Lawrence vs #4 RPI – 10 am
Game 1: Winner of Play-In Game vs. #1 Rochester – 12:30 pm
Game 2: #3 Clarkson vs #2 Ithaca – 3 pm

Friday, May 9
Game 3: Winner game 1 vs Winner game 2 – 10 am
Game 4: Loser game 1 vs Loser game 2 – 12:30 pm

As the fourth seed in the Liberty League this season, the Engineers earned a spot in the Liberty League Championship for the sixth consecutive season the tournament was held. The Engineers begin their postseason journey at 10:00 am on Thursday against the fifth seeded St. Lawrence Saints in the play-in game. All games in the double-elimination bracket will be played at Southside Field, with the championship scheduled for 12:00 pm on Saturday afternoon.

RPI secured the fourth seed in the Liberty League Championship after finishing second in the East Division this spring. The Engineers will be in action for the first game of Thursday's opening round, with RPI scheduled for a 1:00 pm first pitch against the first-seeded Ithaca Bombers. All games in the double-elimination bracket will be played at Valesente Diamond at Freeman Field, with the championship scheduled for 12:00 pm on Saturday afternoon.

The Liberty League-champion RPI men's tennis team has booked another trip to the NCAA Men's Tennis Championship. Appearing in the bracket for the fifth time in the last seven years the championship has been held, RPI is scheduled to face the winner of match 2 at 2:00 pm on Saturday at the Voute Courts at Tufts Tennis Cente at host site Tufts. The winner of Saturday's contest moves on to the Regional Final at 12:00 pm on Sunday. If matches get moved inside due weather, they will be played at Bass River Tennis Center in Beverly, Mass.

For the second consecutive season, RPI has earned a trip to the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Division III Championship. The Engineers will take on Williams at 3:00 pm on Saturday, which will be the second game of the afternoon at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn. Babson and host Wesleyan will be featured in the first game of the day at 12:00 pm, with the winners of the two Saturday contests advancing to Regional Final on Sunday at 3:00 pm.

The Engineers men's and women's track & field programs return to action this weekend at the Dick Farley Invitational at Williams College. RPI heads into the two-day event coming off last weekend's Liberty League Championships. The Engineers women finished third overall in the team standings, while the RPI men claimed their fourth consecutive league title.
