TROY, N.Y. – The 2025 fall athletics season at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) officially gets underway this week, with six programs kicking off their campaigns between Friday, August 29 and Sunday, August 31. With five home games set to take place at ECAV Stadium and several others on the road, the Engineers are primed for a full opening weekend of action.
Friday, August 29
Men's Soccer vs. Emerson | 1 p.m. | ECAV Stadium
The Engineers return to ECAV Stadium to begin their season against Emerson College. With a retooled lineup and strong leadership in the upperclassman group, RPI looks to notch an early win in front of the home crowd.
Field Hockey at SUNY Geneseo | 3 p.m. | Geneseo, NY
RPI field hockey travels west to begin its season against the Knights of SUNY Geneseo. The Engineers are looking to build on a competitive 2024 showing and will lean on a mix of returning starters and promising newcomers.
Women's Soccer vs. Suffolk | 3:30 p.m. | ECAV Stadium
The women's soccer team opens its year on home turf against Suffolk University. RPI will look to establish momentum early behind a veteran core that contributed to a strong non-conference campaign in 2024.
Saturday, August 30
Men's & Women's Cross Country | RPI Alumni Cup @ Saratoga State Park
Both cross country teams begin their 2025 slates with the annual RPI Alumni Cup at historic Saratoga State Park. The meet will serve as both a season-opener and reunion, blending competition with celebration as alumni and current student-athletes run together. RPI will look to showcase its depth and young talent over the early-season 5K/6K formats.
Field Hockey at Hartwick | 2 p.m. | Oneonta, NY
The Engineers return to the field just one day after their opener, heading to Oneonta to face Hartwick College.
Sunday, August 31
Men's Soccer vs. Marywood | 12 p.m. | ECAV Stadium
Less than 48 hours after their opener, RPI men's soccer takes on Marywood University in another non-league home matchup.
Women's Soccer vs. Plattsburgh State | 3 p.m. | ECAV Stadium
The Engineers cap the weekend with a clash against SUNY Plattsburgh.
