Engineers Blitzed by #9 Princeton

TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's hockey team suffered a 4–0 setback to #9 Princeton this afternoon in Houston Field House.

RPI showed early offensive energy, creating scoring opportunities in the opening minutes as Mia Montanari and Georgia Bailey each registered shots within the first minute of play, including a Bailey attempt that rang off the post. The Engineers continued to push throughout the period, but Princeton capitalized on its opportunities to take a three-goal lead into the first intermission.

Despite the deficit, RPI settled defensively in the second period and limited Princeton to one goal over the final 39 minutes. Reese Keating was steady in net, finishing with 25 saves, including 10 in the second period and eight more in the third to keep the Engineers within reach. Keating also turned aside all five Princeton power-play opportunities as RPI's penalty kill held firm through extended defensive shifts.

Offensively, RPI continued to generate looks through the middle frame, with Montanari, Nina Christof, and Charlotte Wensley each testing the Princeton goaltender. Christof led all Engineers with four shots on goal and added three blocked shots, while Montanari finished with two shots and logged heavy minutes at even strength.

Princeton's scoring came from Maggie Johnson and Issy Wunder, with the latter recording a hat trick in the victory. The Tigers were held scoreless on five power-play chances as RPI's discipline and structure limited second-chance opportunities.

RPI will prepare for a north country road trip next weekend, which begins with a 6:00 pm tilt at Clarkson on Friday.
