MIDDLEBURY, VT - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's track & field team continued its indoor season with a series of strong showings at Middlebury today, as the Engineers notched numerous top-eight finishes and impressive depth across multiple disciplines.
RPI's distance unit opened the day with a standout performance in the 5000 meters, where
Alice Einhorn paced the Engineers with a second-place finish in 20:11.91.
Kaitlyn Fleming followed closely behind, earning fourth in 20:26.39 to give the team a strong double showing in the event. Later in the meet,
Chloe Nebel added an eighth-place finish in the mile, clocking in at 6:00.28 to round out a balanced effort from the distance squad.
In the 3000 meters, the Engineers packed three athletes into the top five. Niamh Herraghty led the charge with a third-place finish in 11:41.55, just ahead of Josie Howard in fourth at 11:43.73.
Elsie Corbett capped off the group with a fifth-place result, running 12:11.80 in a commanding distance display.
The mid-distance events saw
Anoua Carrie and
Laura Hoag finish second and third in the 500 with respective times of 1:21.84 and 1:21.92. Carrie and Hoag later returned to the track for the 4x400 meter relay, joining
Rebecca Itty and
Chloe Nebel to secure second place in 4:24.07 in a hard-fought effort.
Katie Lynch claimed third in the shot put with a throw of 10.98 meters and delivering a runner-up finish in the weight throw at 14.57 meters.
Kylie Allen followed closely in both events, finishing fourth in shot put (10.49m) and seventh in the weight throw (11.19m), while
Grace Garman added a seventh-place mark of 9.81 meters in the shot put. The Engineers also received strong efforts in the throw from
Grace Richard (5th, 11.85m) and
Olivia Coakley (6th, 11.20m).
The Engineers are slated to next compete in Middlebury on Sunday, February 1.
