CANTON, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's track & field team finished fourth overall at the Liberty League Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by St. Lawrence.
RPI found immediate success in the short sprints, led by
Alyssa Fici, who scored in both events by placing fifth in the 100-meter dash (12.41 seconds) and eighth in the 200 (25.75). The Engineers also added significant points in the 400 as
Lauren Szalkowski finished fourth in 58.40.
RPI stacked multiple top-eight results in the 800, with
Erin vonHousen leading the way in sixth (2:18.91), followed by
Laura Hoag in seventh (2:19.68) and
Charlotte Koutalidis in eighth (2:19.94). VonHousen and Koutalidis also produced scoring performances in the 1500, as vonHousen earned a third-place finish in 4:45.76 and Koutalidis added an eighth-place effort in 4:53.00.
The Engineers' distance group was again a major strength, led by
Julianne Bleskoski, who claimed second in the 5000 with a time of 17:08.83, while
Gianna Coryea added points in eighth at 17:48.41. The top-eight finishes continued in the 10,000, where
Ava Handel secured a runner-up result in 36:28.24, and Coryea followed with another scoring effort in sixth (36:44.87).
Alice Brambati placed third in the 100-meter hurdles (14.40), and
Emma McGuinn added fourth in 14.53. In the steeplechase,
Claudia Wolf delivered one of the weekend's top results for the Engineers with a second-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase (11:07.52), while
Tessa Bossom followed in third (11:11.32) and
Alyse Karanian added a sixth-place effort in 11:29.72.
RPI earned valuable points in the 4x400, finishing second in 4:02.53 as Fici,
Maeve Murphy, Szalkowski, and Hoag combined for the performance.
The Engineers also scored consistently in the field events.
Tooni Olaleye earned a podium finish in the high jump, placing third with a clearance of 1.52m. In the pole vault,
Ainsley Rausch cleared 3.12m to place seventh, while
Alice Brambati added a pair of major point-scoring performances in the horizontal jumps, finishing second in the long jump (5.53m) and third in the triple jump (11.59m).
Leanna Wells scored with a fourth-place finish in the shot put (12.57m), and
Katie Lynch contributed another key scoring result with a fourth-place finish in the discus (38.09m). In the javelin,
Grace Garman added points in fourth with a mark of 34.21m, while
Emma Muir followed closely in fifth at 33.81m.
