NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's hockey team came up short in a 7–2 decision at Yale this afternoon.
The Engineers received goals from
Nina Christof and
Mia Montanari, including a power-play strike late in the third period, while generating steady pressure and special-teams success against the Bulldogs.
After Yale built an early first-period advantage, RPI settled into the game and found its breakthrough early in the second. At 5:13, Christof cut into the deficit with an even-strength goal, finishing a quick transition play off a feed from Montanari. The tally marked Christof's fourth goal of the season and snapped a stretch of sustained Yale pressure, providing a spark for the Engineers midway through the contest.
RPI continued to press offensively in the third period and was rewarded late with a power-play conversion at 18:22. Montanari buried her second goal of the weekend and fifth of the season, wiring a shot home from the slot after crisp puck movement from
Gracyn Mackay and
Georgia Bailey.
The Engineers head home to Houston Field House, where the Engineers will host Quinnipiac at 6:00 pm on Friday.
