Field Hockey Extends Program-Record Winning Streak to Nine

TROY, NY — The RPI field hockey team extended its program-record winning streak to nine straight games with a dominant 5-0 victory over Vermont State University this evening at Harkness Field.

RPI scored twice in the opening quarter, as Emily Frey opened the scoring before Lindsay Dunbar doubled the advantage off a feed from Kennedy Campbell. The Engineers held VTSU without a shot in the period while generating four attempts and a pair of penalty corners.

The Engineers continued to control possession throughout the second quarter, producing six more shots and eight penalty corners. Campbell added RPI's third goal late in the half, finishing a setup from Ria Patel to send the Engineers into halftime with a 3-0 advantage.

RPI kept VTSU without a shot again in the third quarter while continuing to generate opportunities at the other end. Frey, Patel and Katie Galgay each recorded attempts as the Engineers maintained the three-goal cushion heading into the final period.

The Engineers added two more goals in the fourth. Emily Dubord converted a feed from Frey to extend the lead to 4-0 before Elise Giroux finished a setup from Patel for the final goal of the evening. VTSU managed its only two shots of the game during the period, but Olivia Brovak stopped both to complete the shutout.

Campbell paced the RPI offense with a goal and an assist, while Patel recorded two assists. Frey finished with a goal and an assist, and Dubord, Dunbar and Giroux each added a tally. The Engineers received goals from five different players in the victory.

RPI finished with a commanding 20-2 advantage in total shots, including an 11-2 edge in shots on goal, and earned 17 penalty corners compared to just one for VTSU.
