Field Hockey Wins Again, Remains Perfect Atop of Liberty League

TROY, NY — The RPI field hockey team extended its program-record winning streak to 10 consecutive games with a commanding 5-1 Liberty League victory over St. Lawrence this evening at Harkness Field. The Engineers improved to 11-2 overall and remained unbeaten in conference play at 4-0.

RPI took control early behind a pair of first-quarter goals from Ella Pasquarelli. Sophia Brown assisted on both tallies as the Engineers built a 2-0 advantage while outshooting the Saints 9-1 over the opening 15 minutes.

The Engineers continued to add to the lead in the second quarter. Ria Patel converted a setup from Emily Dubord to make it 3-0 before Lindsay Dunbar added an unassisted goal later in the period. RPI carried a 4-0 advantage into halftime after producing 15 shots over the opening two quarters.

RPI struck again immediately after the break when Emily Frey found the back of the cage to extend the margin to 5-0. St. Lawrence answered later in the third on a goal from Sawyer Bailey, but the Engineers prevented any further damage and carried the four-goal advantage into the final quarter.

The Saints generated their strongest pressure in the fourth quarter with five penalty corners, but Olivia Brovak turned aside their lone shot on goal during the period. Brown produced two late attempts for the Engineers as RPI closed out the 5-1 victory and pushed its record-setting streak into double digits.

Pasquarelli led the RPI offense with two goals on six shots, while Patel, Dunbar and Frey each scored once. Brown finished with two assists, Patel recorded three shots on goal, and Dubord added an assist. Frey contributed a goal on her only shot while also helping generate several penalty-corner opportunities throughout the contest.

The Engineers finished with a 25-8 advantage in total shots, including a 14-4 edge in shots on goal, and held a 9-6 advantage in penalty corners.
