RPI Takes on Middlebury at TriCity

LATHAM, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team hosted Middlebury today at TriCity, where the visiting Panthers earned a 7-0 team victory.

RPI opened the match in doubles competition with the tandem of Tasmay Shah and Tsubasa Okada representing the Engineers at the top position. The pair battled Julian Wu and Noah Lewis in a close contest before falling by a 7-6 score.

At the No. 2 doubles position, Debarshi Sen and Cade Collingwood competed against Reif Larsen and Thehan Wijemanne, while Felix Puyplat and Aidan Atri delivered another tightly contested match at No. 3 doubles against Hugh Hentschel and Andrew Yim, ultimately falling by a 7-6 margin. 

In singles play, Shah represented the Engineers at the No. 1 position against Wu. Okada followed at No. 2 singles in a closely contested match that featured a tiebreak in the opening set against Lewis. Puyplat competed at the third position against Wijemanne, while Sen took the court at No. 4 singles against Larsen. Atri represented RPI at the fifth position against Hentschel, and Collingwood rounded out the lineup at No. 6 singles against Anand Sahasrabudhe.

The Engineers will pack their bags for their annual spring break trip, with the first day of action set for Monday in Florida.
