ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team competed on the road at RIT, with the host Tigers earning a 6-1 victory in Liberty League action.
RPI's doubles point was highlighted by a strong performance at the No. 2 position, where
Felix Puyplat and
Aiden Atribattled to a 7-5 victory over their RIT opponents.
In singles play, the Engineers' lone victory came at the No. 2 position, where
Gustave Viennet earned a win after taking the opening set 6-3 before the match was decided by default in his favor.
Elsewhere in the lineup, several Engineers pushed their matches deep into competitive territory. At No. 3 singles, Puyplat responded after dropping the first set to force a second set before falling in straight sets. Atri delivered one of the most competitive matches of the afternoon at the No. 4 position, rallying to win the second set 7-5 and force a deciding super tiebreak before narrowly coming up short.
Debarshi Sen competed at No. 5 singles, while Shah faced a strong opponent at the top spot.
RPI stays out west to face Rochester tomorrow afternoon.
