TROY, N.Y. – The Liberty League has announced its weekly award winners in women's lacrosse and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute student-athlete Emma Albert has been named Rookie of the Week after helping the Red Hawks to a 2-0 week.

A freshman from Baldwinsville, N.Y., Albert factored in significantly on both ends of the field. In a 14-10 win over Clarkson, she had a free position goal and five shots (3 on goal) with a ground ball and four draw controls. She then posted two draw control wins and caused two turnovers in RPI's 11-5 victory over St. Lawrence the following day.

On the year, Albert has started in 10 of the teams 11 games. She has six goals on 15 shots, including 12 on goal. Going 1 for 6 on free position opportunities, she also has eight ground balls, 17 draw controls and five caused turnovers. Her .800 shots on-goal percentage is third on the team.

Albert was a three-year varsity lacrosse player at CW Baker, earning Defensive Player of the Year honors in her senior season. She was twice named to All-League Second Team as well as a two-time Academic All-American. A three-time New York State Scholar Athlete, she was also a 2008 Sportsmanship Award recipient.

The Red Hawks (6-5; 3-3 Liberty League) return to action on Saturday, when they visit league-rival Vassar (2pm).
