WAYNE, N.J. – Senior Jodi Feriod (Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) scored her second straight game-winning goal to lead 20th-ranked William Paterson to a 2-1 win over Rensselaer in non-conference field hockey action on Saturday. The Pioneers improve to 2-0 while the Engineers drop to 0-2.

Feriod blasted a pass from classmate Christina Ayusa (Runnemede, NJ/Triton) from the left wing into the back of the cage with 12:06 to play.

Junior Sandy Turnbull (Upperville, VA/Chatham Hall) broke the scoreless tie during the 47th minute with a breakaway and chip past WP goalie Christina Auger (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills). Just 2:05 later, junior Amanda Sheehan (Boonton, NJ/Boonton) tied the game, knocking in a Kelsey Rella (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) pass during a penalty corner.

Auger made three stops in goal for William Paterson, while sophomore Briana Earle (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) had six saves for the Engineers.

William Paterson will next play on Wednesday at Drew at (7pm). Rensselaer is back in action tomorrow afternoon at Montclair State (2pm).
