TROY, N.Y. – The Union College men's tennis team picked up a 6-3 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on Sunday afternoon. The Dutchmen spoiled RPI's home opener, claiming wins in two of three doubles matches and had victories in four of six singles flights to improve to 1-2 on the season. The Engineers drop to 0-2. Both squads have now concluded their fall schedules.
Union saw four players pick up multiple victories on the afternoon as the doubles pairings of Mike Kanner and Shaun Champenaria, along with Matt Goodnow and Alex Katz, each won their respective singles flights.
Leading the Engineers was the third doubles pairing of Patrick Russo and Justin Domingo, who claimed a hard-fought 9-8 (6) win. In singles action both Matthew Saffee and Adam Generale won in the fifth and sixth flights, respectively.
