ITHACA, N.Y. - The Rensselaer men's and women's track & field teams competed at the 2010 Marc Deneault Invitational at Cornell University on Saturday.  Though it was a non-scoring meet, both squads had strong performances at the multi-divisional invitational.  Leading the way for RPI was Austin Drexler, who finished seventh or better in three events.

Drexler ran to fifth over at the 60-meter dash, posting a time of 7.17.  He was seventh in the 200-dash with a mark of 23.25 and also performed well in the long jump with a distance of 6.38 meters.

Also having a solid day for the men was junior Nathan Marsan (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna), who ran to fourth in the 500-dash with a time of 1:08.44.  He also helped the 4x400 relay team to fifth in a time of 3:37.91.  Other members of the relay team included freshmen Joe Mullen (Carmel, NY/Carmel) and Zack Harper (Plainville, CT/Plainville), along with sophomore Josh Slocum (Irvine, CA/Irvine).

On the women's side, senior Tracey Knoop (North Syracuse, NY/Bishop Grimes) placed third in the high jump with a height of 1.55 meters, while sophomore Morgan Danner (McLean, VA/Langley) was seventh in the pole vault with a mark of 3.20 meters.

In the track events, sophomore Elise DeSimone (Falmouth, ME/Falmouth) was eighth in the 500-dash with a time of 1:26.32, while junior Danielle Cohen (Cranston, RI/Cranston East) placed 12th in the 1-mile event (5:35.42).

Select members from each squad return to action on Sunday when they compete in the NYSCTC Indoor Mutis at Cornell.  Both squads then head to Rochester for the NYSCTC Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday, hosted by Rochester Institute of Technology.
