HANOVER, N.H. - Behind a goal in each period from three different players, the Dartmouth women's hockey team defeated Rensselaer, 3-0, in ECAC Hockey action at Thompson Arena. With the victory, the Big Green move to 12-8-0 overall and 8-6-0 in the league. The Engineers slip to 9-10-6 on the season with a 7-6-1 mark in ECAC Hockey.
The Big Green opened the scoring at 4:40 as Jenna Hobeika connected on a pass from Sasha Nanji for a power play marker. Reagan Fischer was also credited with an assist for Dartmouth, which outshot RPI by a 15-5 margin in the opening stanza.
In the middle frame, Camille Dumais netted her eighth of the season just 26 seconds into the period as she capitalized on a pass from Geneva Kliman for Dartmouth's second power play tally of the game.
Looking to edge closer, the Engineers pulled netminder
Sonja van der Bliek in favor of the extra attacker in the third period, but the gamble did not pay off as Amanda Trunzo found the open net for her 11th of the season at 19:40 to seal the victory.
In goal for the Big Green, Lindsay Holdcroft was forced to make just nine stops, while her counterpart, van der Bliek, had 31 stops. In addition to 14 saves in the opening period, the senior stopped 12 shots in the second period and five in the third.
RPI is back in action next weekend when it travels to Colgate and Cornell on Friday and Saturday. Dartmouth is also in action on Friday and Saturday at Brown and Yale.
